Richard Alford is a former instructor at The University of Akron and member of the NICA Ice Carving Hall of Fame. He is a certified lead judge, certified executive chef and a culinary educator who has coached five teams to a U.S. National Collegiate Ice Carving Championship. He is a highly accomplished fruit and vegetable carver and winner of a numerous regional competitions for ice and fruit carving.
Jason Bartlett started working as an ice carver about two years ago under the direction of national ice carving champion Greg Butauski at Rock On Ice. He is a seasonal full time employee with Rock On Ice and spends the off season perfecting his craft. Last year, Jason branched out into carving pumpkins and he quickly became hooked on this new means of expression. He can’t wait to carve pumpkins again this fall!
Greg Butauski is a Certified Master Carver by the National Ice Carving Association and has been carving ice for 25 years. He is the owner and mastermind behind Rock On Ice in Sunbury, Ohio. Greg travels all over the country and even internationally, carving temporary works of art out of ice, fruits, vegetables, sand, cheese and yes, pumpkins. His clients include major corporations, restaurants, sports arenas, zoos and cities of all sizes.
Chad Hartson is former World Champion ice sculptor who owns and operates Ice Creations in Napoleon, Ohio, the largest ice facility in the entire state. Chad has won a multitude of local and regional ice sculpting competitions. Not only is he champion at ice sculpting, he is also a highly skilled pumpkin carver, food carver and sand sculptor who carves at a variety of special events throughout the Midwest each year.
Stephan Koch has been an ice sculptor for over fifteen years. Just five years ago, he began experimenting with other media, including sand, wood, styrofoam and of course…pumpkins. Stephan lives with his lovely wife Karen at their five-acre homestead in Indiana with their dogs, cat, chickens, rabbits and many other non-domesticated members of the animal kingdom.
Jon Michaels is an accomplished artist from Cincinnati, Ohio who works as a professional ice sculptor for Artic Diamond Ice Sculptures, one of the nation’s top ice sculpting companies. In the fall months he loves carving pumpkins for a change of pace, though he can also be found carving soap, sand and wood sculptures in his free time. He’s excited to return to Fall Fest for another year.
Jeff Petercsak is an award-winning ice sculptor from Westerville, Ohio and former executive director of the National Ice Carving Association. He was fortune to train under NICA certified ice carver Greg Butauski. He partnered with Greg to accomplish a second place finish at the World Ice Art Championships in Fairbanks, AK earning a spot on the 2010 Winter Olympics USA Ice Sculpting team.
Ryan Roth is an award-winning artist in various mediums who works with everything from ice and pumpkins to sand, clay, wood, and stone. He can usually be found running around the Rustbelt states showing off his skills at public demonstrations and through custom work. Whether it’s sculpting or fronting the Americana band, Ryan A. Roth and the sideshow, Ryan brings an energy and style that’s all his own.
